Dr Wendy Denning trained as a doctor at University College Hospital, London. She then completed her GP training in London and Oxford including rotations in general medicine, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry and accident and emergency medicine. She holds a Diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners.
She practised for one year as a locum GP in Oxford before emigrating to Vancouver, Canada, where she repeated her medical examinations and became a member of the Canadian College of Family Practitioners.
In Canada she worked as a Family Practitioner for 7 years – and also pursued her lifelong interest in the integration of traditional and complementary medicine, working collaboratively with several complementary practitioners.
In the 1990’s she took specialised training with Nutritional Doctors in the USA furthering her longstanding interest in Nutritional Medicine. She also spent 5 months doing volunteer work in India where she worked in an Eye Camp, on a Mobile Hospital and collaboratively with an Ayruvedic Doctor.
She returned to the UK in 1998 to look after her father who was terminally ill and also to join Dr Ali at the Integrated Medical Centre at its inception. She worked there as a private GP with a strong interest in nutritional medicine for 8 years collaborating closely with the complementary practitioners.
In 2002 she took a basic training weekend in Traditional Chinese Medicine and was so fascinated that she stayed on and completed a two year training course and received her Diploma in this in 2004.
In 2007 she created her own clinic – The Health Doctors clinic – www.thehealthdoctors.co.uk - which combines the best of traditional medicine with complementary medicine.
She lectures regularly to doctors and complementary practitioners on varied subjects from infertility, cardiovascular risk, irritable bowel syndrome, parasites, heavy metal detoxification, Chinese medicine and how to integrate traditional and complementary medicine on a day to day basis.
She has served on the Department of Health’s Select Advisory Group for Cosmetic Surgery, on the GP Steering Group for the Prince of Wales Foundation for Integrated Health and is a member of the Committee promoting an Integrated Approach to Obstetrics and Gynaecology in this country.
